"Scottia" (left) and "Chantel" (right)

I have been fascinated with Collies since age three. Growing up, our neighbor had a sable rough Collie, named "Bonnie". In my early years, "Bonnie" and I became the best of friends. I knew someday I would have my own Collie.

In the early 70’s I purchased my first Collie and named her "Chantel". She was a beautiful sable rough bitch. A few years later, I purchased a second Collie and named her "Scottia", a tri rough bitch. Neither of them were ever shown, but I dearly cared for both of them and the joy they brought into our life.

By 1994 I decided I had to have a blue Collie. I had only seen them in books until finally one day I actually saw a beautiful blue rough Collie.

Noel and I had been away cutting wood in the high country, as we started home, trailer loaded with wood. We were moving right along as we past through south fork canyon. There, in front of me in all his glory, a beautiful rough blue dog. I can still picture him, his arched neck, ears up, just watching as we passed by. I must have scared Noel to death, as I let out a yell for him to stop. It wasn’t the easiest of stops, but Noel managed it. I had to go see this magnificent blue Collie. We introduced ourselves and later discovered his name was quite original, "Blue". What else would you call a blue dog? We talked like we were old friends only to find out the owner, Mr. Michelson, turns out to be our veterinarian’s father. Mr. Michelson, did search and rescue with "Blue" as well as visiting the school and rest home. He was well known for his articles as published in Collie magazines. We asked where "Blue" came from, knowing I had to have a blue Collie. Mr. Mickelson directed us to Pat and Judy Adams of Adam Acre Collies.

We contacted them as Noel and I decided we wanted to show or have a Collie to show. We purchased our first to be show Collie from Adam Acres and named her "Ashley". But, as fate would have it, our family commitments caused us to put the showing on hold. We would be raising our grandson Christian. What more could we ask for, but to have Christian and "Ashley" become the best of friends, the same as I had growing up with "Bonnie". What a reward to see them grow together.

By the mid 90’s, with Christian now raised by our beautiful "Ashley", we again returned to Judy as a mentor and friend to allow us a second blue Collie. We started with one, a flashy blue bitch we called "Lacee". But, when we went to get her, I couldn’t settle for just one and purchased her litter mate who is still here with us, and we call him "Nelson". "Nelson" and I are in separable and he makes his presence known to anyone who will listen. "Nelson" was shown some and is pointed.

When we saw a photo of CH. Ka-Ze's Tangled Up In Blue (CCA 2000 BOS to BOB), we fell in love all over again. I had to have a Ka-Ze blue Collie. We contacted Jerry and Kathy Zehetner of Ka-Ze Collies, who have become wonderful friends and mentors to us. We finally got our Blue puppy and of course being original, we named him "Blue". The real beginning of Blue Music Collies was with our first Champion expertly handled by Roxann and Dale Heit. "Blue" finished with 3 specialty majors and has sired his second litter for us. Roxann and Dale are wonderful friends and mentors, we can’t imagine our dogs out with anyone else.

For our first litter, we purchased a tri rough bitch from Frank and Sharon Edler of Twin Acres we call "Remmee", Twin Acres With A Flourish (major pointed). She became the dam of "Blue’s" first litter, producing a single blue puppy who we named "Tazz", Blue Music Phantom O' The Opera (pointed).

We decided we wanted to go another direction and searched for an additional brood bitch to breed back to "Blue". We were fortunate to acquire "Bailee", CH. Overland’s Summer Night, from Ed Simoneaux and Keith Griffis. "Bailee" goes back to generations of exceptional champion producers and had the body type we were looking for. We bred her to "Blue" and she whelped a litter of 6 beautiful babies. (1 tri rough dog, 3 blue rough dogs, 1 tri rough bitch and 1 blue rough bitch (Whelped 2/18/03).
